Ceiling effect is a term that explains a kind of psychological puzzlement when available capability falls short of external requirements, and proves to be a frequent problem during the specialization stage of SMEs development Though seemingly caused by high settlement conditions set by upper and lower link dealers of the industrial chain, ceiling effect is actually attributed to the constant upgrading of consumer demand under the buyersmarket A correct understanding of the characteristics of ceiling effect can help SMEs transform pressure into innovation motives. To break the ceiling effect, SMEs must take into consideration practical circumstances in their pursuit of countermeasures through five strategic and tactical aspects.
