Empirical Analysis on the Relation Between Internal Corporate Governance Model of Chinas Non-listed Family Firms and their Performance
Based on the survey data from non-listed family firms in China, this study showed that: the larger the size of a family firm, the more likely it adopts strong contractual governance, and the higher the family shareholding proportion in their firms, the more inclined it implements the strong relational governance. In order to achieve better business performance, family firms should adopt a double-strong governance model of both strong relational governance and contractual governance but avoid to use a double-weak governance model of both weak relational governance and weak contractual governance after the introduction of external professional managers.
