Investigation and Analysis of SMEs Cognition for Venture Capital in Central China
This paper established the model of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) cognition for venture capital, and pointed out that the cognition of SMEs for venture capital is the basis of the transaction, in addition to financing demands and development potential. Through the telephone interviews of 817 SMEs regarding the use of venture capital in six provinces of central China, we find that SMEs in general are lack of understanding of venture capital, and most firms are shifting from unknowing to knowing. SMEs lack of cognition for venture capital has seriously hampered the development of venture capital in central region. Fortunately, cognition of innovative enterprises is much higher than the overall level, and most of them are willing to achieve development with venture capital.
