Design of Wireless Sensor Network for Bridge Structure Health Monitoring Based on ZIGBEE Technology

Abstract: This paper introduces a design of wireless sensor network (WSN) for bridge structure health monitoring (SHM) based on ZIGBEE protocol. TMS320VC5509 DSP is adopted as the data processing chip in the system with the benefit of high performance and low power consumption. CC2430 is employed as the RF module, which is the first system on chip (SoC) CMOS solution that integrated a high performance radio transceiver with 2.4GHz and an industrial 8051 MCU. The design features low cost, low power consumption, high reliability and high security, so it can be widely used in SHM.
