A WebGIS-based System for the Collection and Update of Forest Resource
A WebGIS-based system designed to collect and update the forest resource data in real time was developed to provide support for scientific management of forest resource. The system adopts a Brower Server (B/S) structure and combines the forest models and WebGIS techniques. For this system, it was divided into two aspects, respectively reduction and growth. The deforestation which was updated through the process data and the destruction that included fire, pests and disease of forest were contained in the reduction. On the contrary, the growth included the natural growth that was updated through the models and management update which was updated through range and survival rate. Finally, a WebGIS-based system for the forest data collection and realtime update was developed by integrating a data platform, the professional models and the WebGIS techniques. This system was successfully integrated into the demonstration sites of the Yichun Forestry Bureau. The results show that the system changes the traditional method of field investigation and the design, and it achieves the automation of the data collection and update and improves the work efficiency of staff.
