Application of PROMETHEE to Network Selection in A Heterogeneous Network Environment

In a heterogeneous network environment, how to choose the access network is a key issue. Based on the analysis of the limitations of the existing network selection algorithm, we propose a new network selection algorithm based on Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) and Preference Ranking Organization Methods for Enrichment Evaluations (PROMETHEE).Through the analysis of the network selection factors and the selection process, a network selection model is established. The weights of the decision attributes can be calculated by AHP; PROMETHEE executes the final selection decision-making process and gains the best access network. Simulation results show the proposed algorithm is reasonable and effective while has some practical value.
