Research and Design of 1553B Fault-Tolerant Communication Protocol

The bus controller (BC) of 1553B bus is the single point of failure (SPOF) which will stop the entire system from working if fails. And, the remote terminal (RT) node of the bus cant initiate communication and freely join or drop out of the bus. In order to conquer these deficiencies and inconveniences, a fault-tolerant communication protocol (FTCP) layer was designed upon legacy 1553 hardware. It can maintain the only bus controller node dynamically, manage all the nodes and insure active communication between any two nodes. Finally, the protocol was implemented and validated on the satellite-based high-performance 4-computer parallel system.
