Power-Efficient Algorithm Based on Valiant Load-Balanced Robust Routing in Green IP over WDM Network
With the power consumption increasing and the greenhouse effect becoming more and more serious, the power saving has become the focus in the whole world. In recent years, the concept of green Internet was proposed to construct a power-efficient network. As an important part of core network, the power saving in green IP over WDM network has attained extensive attention. Current works designing the powerefficient network mostly assumed that the average traffic between each network-node pair can be known or predicted. In real-world situation, however, it is very difficult to accurately estimate the average traffic between each network-node pair due to the features, such as bursty, unpredictability and variability of the IP traffic. Therefore, a novel power-efficient algorithm based on Valiant robust routing in green IP over WDM network, the MTPR (Minimizing Total Power Ratio), was proposed in this paper. Compared to conventional robust routing algorithms, MTPR can obtain higher power efficiency.
