A Location Method of Transient Light Target

This paper presents a novel method for detecting and locating transient light targets from consecutive image sequences. Background clutters are firstly suppressed by subtracting the background frame, which is the weighted average of the image sequence. In order to eliminate residual edges, Robinson Guard filter is adopted to the difference image. Cross projection is then used to segment potential targets from the background image. According to the time and space characteristics of transient light, further detection is executed to potential targets by the size constraint and interframe correlation analysis. Finally, the target is located by calculating its centroid. The experimental results show that this method can locate multiple targets with high accuracy in a scene.
