Downlink Interference Mitigation for Overlaying LTE Macrocell and Femtocell

This paper treats the downlink interference problem in overlaying LTE Macrocell and Femtocell network with partial cochannel deployment. We propose an inter-tier interference mitigation strategy without the Femtocell users power control by dividing the Macrocell users into femto-interfering Macrocell users and regular users. The femto-interfering Macrocell users can only use some dedicated subchannels. The regular Macrocell users, on the other hand, can use either the dedicated subchannels, or the shared subchannels which are also used by the Femtocell users. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can efficiently mitigates the inter-tier interference in the Femtocell network.
