Architecture of a handheld movie-English learning device based on S3C2440

Popular handheld multimedia player products on the market (such as MP4 and MP5) can play back movie files smoothly, but they rarely leave room for further development; general purpose handheld computers (such as PDA) possess powerful programming capabilities, but they are either too expensive, or too poor in decoding/playback. To construct an economical handheld movie-English learning device, propose an overall architecture based on S3C2440 platform, and implement a tiny and light-weight GUI with multimedia and database modules that support multiple video formats. A prototype of this architecture has been built and tests show that it can meet the basic requirements; but the performance on large or high-resolution movie files should still have to be optimized.
