Design of Two-wired High Precision and Multi-function Meter Based on MSP430

High cost and power consumption are the disadvantages of traditional two-wired meters, the paper introduces a design method for high precise and low cost multifunction meter. The system used ultralow power MSP430F4152 microprocessor as the main control chip which has lObits A/D module. In order to improve the measure resolution, a conversion circuit was designed to extend I Obits A/D module to 12bits A/D. To meet the needs of multipurpose, the meter allowed user to set various parameters flexibly such as unit and zero and full scale. The different physical quantities as output signals can be displayed on LCD with backlight. The internal Flash memory was used to store parameters instead of external EEPROM. The practical result shows that the meter has its own characteristic in the low cost and low power consumption, high accuracy and flexible configuration and it is fit to be used in the industrial field.
