Inherent Levy Walk Mechanism based on Cognitive Limitation and Geographical Constraints

Levy walk mobility pattern has been recognized through real-world traces collected from campus or other sources. Hereafter many mobility models have been proposed to generate Levy walk mobility data which can be used for understanding human mobility and simulating network behavior from different angle of view. But to the best knowledge of authors, why people walk in Levy walk mode has not been answered in-depth. According to common sense that geographical obstacles are the cause that affect humans mobility, a human walk mechanism based on the cognitive limitation is proposed from the microscopic level, coined by authors here as Stack-Walk, bringing forward a initiatory answer. Theoretical analysis and numeric simulation show that such mechanism produces the distribution of traveling distances decaying as a power law which indicates the trajectory of individuals are Levy flight. Such result reveals that the mechanism proposed might be the inherent reason for Levy properties.
