Research on Innovation Mechanism and Risk of Industrial Clusters
In the knowledge-based economy, more and more policy makers and scholars have underlined the importance of industrial clusters as key drivers of innovation, in which key technological advances and R&D activities take place always. Industrial cluster facilitates knowledge sharing and, thus, interactive learning and innovation. But too much proximity of clustering firms leads to a lack of openness and flexibility with negative impacts on learning and innovation. This paper attempts to contribute to this research by building an analytical framework on the innovation mechanism and potential risk of industrial clusters. Firstly, this paper discusses the influence of geographical proximity on knowledge spillover and knowledge transfer. Secondly, it analyzes the interactive learning mechanism of enterprises cluster. Then, it focuses on the cooperative innovation and potential risk in industrial cluster. Finally, some suggestions were gives to promote and boom the R&D and innovation activities.
