Chemical Bonding in Photocatalytic Niobates and Tantalates

Chemical bonding effects have been discussed for anhydrous niobates and tantalates using binding energy differences △(Nb)=(BE O 1s-BE Nb 3d(582)) and △(Ta),=(BE O 1s-BE Ta 4f(7/2)) as key parameters to relate structural and electronic properties of these dielectric oxides. Such known photocatalytic materials as (K4Nb6O(17), Sr2Nb 2O7, Ta2O5 LiTaO3, NaTaO3, NaTa2O6 and Sr2Ta 2O7 are considered in particular.
