Ubiquitous Computing Service Model based on Ontology and Peer-to-peer

The complexity of developing and deploying contextaware ubiquitous computing applications calls for distributed service model that unobtrusively support to contextual data collecting, information sharing and security privacy controlling. In this paper, we motivate a human-centric design for such a service model to support context-aware applications. A novel ubiquitous computing service model based on ontology and peer-to-peer, UCSM_OP, is presented. The network of UCSM_OP is a scalable and self-organizing peer-topeer overlay. The formal specification of service model is based on ontology. The experience and lessons learned when using UCSMOP to support Smartconference scenario demonstrate that UCSM_OP is effective to facilitate both the development and deployment of context-aware applications in the ubiquitous computing environments.
