Head Gesture Recognition and Head-tracking Technology for 3D View based on MEMS Accelerator
Human-Computer Interaction 1 and head-tracking technology has attracted much attention in recent years. Considering the universality for common PC users, we develop a head-tracking device (head tracker) and compatible software. When the movement of peoples head was detected by a 2-axis MEMS accelerator, the relative location of peoples eyes through the inclination and acceleration of peoples head was tracked to change the 2D image on the screen to simulate a 3D view. A new compatible algorithm is also proposed to calculate eyes location through a 2-axis accelerator. We have also developed several pragmatic patterns of heads movement which can be used as complement of traditional PC controller: mouse and keyboard. As a platform, the head tracker can be used to cooperate with pre-existing software as well as new software like 3D games which are developed for it. The final model has proved the practicability of this idea.
