Dynamic Transport Control Protocol (D-TCP)
In TCP the sender continuously computes the Round Trip Time (RTT) of each packet correctly received at the receiver by computing the deference between the sending time of the packet and the receiving time of the acknowledgement of the packet In |1 the authors use the RTT of the connections to derive a formula that dynamically adapt the increase and decrease parameters of the congestion window. Under these parameters the performance of the TCP was improved in case of link utilization and fairness problems. But, TCP still suffers from packet drop which needs packet retransmission. In this paper I use the measured RTT to avoid the packet drop of the TCP flows by keeping the buffer empty while also maintains full utilization of the bottleneck link. As a result the algorithm prevents the senders window size from the periodic oscillation that gives less jitter of the flows. The ns-2 simulation is used to evaluate the algorithm and found that, it achieves high performance of the link utilization and avoids the packet drops of the connections.
