ITIL Adoption Critical Success Factors: Applying Meta-synthesis Approach
ITIL is the most popular framework for IT service management in the world, but generally organizations are confused in adoption of this framework. There are few studies to find out critical success factors for successful ITIL implementation. This study was tried to find and categorize factors that influence ITIL adoption. Qualitative Meta-synthesis research method was conducted which is based on previous qualitative studies with different methods. Seven categories of CSFs are identified: Top management support, training and competence of involved stakeholders in ITIL project, project management and governance, change management and organizational culture, communication and cooperation, ITIL processes implementation and applied technology, monitoring and evaluation. Results indicated that Top management support, training and competence of involved stakeholders in ITIL project, change management and organizational culture, communication and cooperation factors as earlier studies showed are the most important in ITIL adoption.
