Study on Parallel Scheduling for Online Backup Service

Data backup can realize quick data recovery in case of system crash. With the popularity of Software as a service (Saas), online backup service has becoming a hot topic within cloud storage. How to establish efficient connection between massive users and storage nodes, so as to achieve systematical loadbalance, to obtain high utilization of network and storage is a crucial problem. This paper proposed two scheduling strategies from the aspects of scheduling by job and object respectively, one is real-time scheduling and the other is long-run scheduling. Experimental analysis demonstrated that long-run scheduling can improve the whole performance of online backup service greatly.
