Practical Technologies for CAD Model Preprocess in Stamping Simulation Software
Over the last decade, stamping simulation software has become familiar to the engineers engaged in sheet metal stamping industry. Not only the calculator used for simulation makes progresses continuously, but also the CAD related functions in such software are supplemented or reinforced and now have turned into a standard configuration. In this paper, several practical technologies that can be implemented for CAD model preprocess before generating simulation model are introduced. These technologies mainly explored the classification of CAD models surface curves and the way to construct topological structure among these curves, which help further process of the CAD model especially the filling up of hole features not consistent with simulation request. Graph theory was adopted to facilitate the construction of topological structure and the hole features can be revealed and located automatically. Application examples of practical CAD model processed by these technologies are demonstrated at length.
