Physical Layer Simulations of the Broadband Wireless LANs Based on OWSS Signalling Technique

A new signalling scheme called OWSS (Orthogonal Wavelet Spread Spectrum), combining Orthogonal Wavelength Division Multiplexing and Spread Spectrum concepts, which enable the high-bit-rate wireless LANs with a speed up to 100Mb/s possible, has recently been claimed by some researchers as promising candidate Tor the 4G WLAN. Inspiring is this very novel technique though, a lot of research work still need to be done. To facilitate further research work, a physical layer simulator of the WLAN based on OWSS signalling scheme has been constructed. It works under BPSK, QPSK, 16-QAM and 64-QAM with ideal channel or AWGN channel. Haar wavelet pulses have been chosen as the carriers in OWSS. The simulations show that OWSS has much better BER performance than OFDM with a strong resistance to additive white Gaussian noise.
