A BEAM-AND-COLUMN BASED MACRO MODEL FOR REINFORCED CONCRETE SHEAR WALLS IN HIGH-RISE BUILDINGS

A beam-and-column based macro model (BAC model) is proposed and applied to simulate the reinforced concrete (RC) shear walls in high-rise buildings. The macro model is constructed and its geometric properties are obtained by comparing the model with the prototype wall in terms of deflection. The smeared cracking model and linear kinematic hardening model are adopted to describe force-displacement relations of concrete and steel respectively. The behaviours of a low-rise RC wall under monotonic loading and two high-rise RC walls under reversed cyclic loading are calculated by the proposed model, which then are compared with the experimental results. It is shown that the analyses results are in good agreement with the experimental results in load carrying capacity, deformation,as well as energy dissipation capacity.
