FINITE-ELEMENT STUDY ON THE INTERFACIAL STRESSES OF STEEL-CONCRETE COMPOSITE BEAMS STRENGTHENED WITH A PRESTRES-SED CFRP PLATE
In this paper,finite-element (FE) method was used to calculate the interfacial stresses of the steelconcrete composite beams strengthened with a prestressed CFRP plate under concentrated load and temperature load. Two prestressed strengthening method, including prestressed FRP strengthening and load-relief jacking, are considered. The results show that: (1) the stress concentrations occur for all the cases and the stress distributions are similar; (2) the load transfer is more uniform for the mechanical load and load-relief jacking cases than the thermal load and prestressed FRP strengthening cases; (3) the maximum stresses caused by the load-release jacking is far less than other cases. FE analysis has been employed to validate the results from the analytical solutions, and the agreement between the results obtained from the different solutions is good.
