EXPERIMENTAL RESEARCH ON THE BEARING CAPACITY OF REINFORCED CONCRETE ELECTRIC POLE STRENGTHENED BY CFRP
In order to enhance the bearing capacity of the old reinforced concrete electric poles (produced by China Southern Power Grid in 1958 and finished a 50-year service life in southwest line),4 specimens (including 3 specimens strengthened by carbon fibre reinforced polymer (CFRP)) were designed for the bending test. The main parameter was the number of CFRP layers. According to the test,the whole failure process,the failure pattern and the complete loading- deflection curve were obtained. Experimental research results showed that the reinfocred concrete electric pole bearing capacity improved apparently by CFRP strengthening technology. With the layer of CFRP increasing,the bearing capacity improved,but the improvement range was not the linear. The failure progress of all strengthened specimens was very rapidly and no premonition,CFRP fracture was the final failure pattern of strengthened specimens.
