EXPERIMENTAL RESEARCH ON THE BENDING CAPACITY OF SERVICE 50 YEARS REINFORCED CONCRETE ELECTRIC POLES

In order to study the bending capacity of service 50 years reinforced concrete electric poles,3 cylinder reinforced concrete electric pole specimens and 6 cylinder reinforced concrete electric poles steel hoop joint specimens were selected randomly from a certain southwest line of China Southern Power Grid (produced in 1958) for the bending test. The whole loading process and the failure pattern of all specimens were observed,the loading-deflection relationship curve and some important parameters were also obtained. Such as crack loading,ultimate loading,crack development shape,crack width and so on. Based on the experiment,the failure mechanism and bearing capacity calculation method of this kind of structure component was analyzed. Research results showed that reinforced concrete electric poles had already served 50 years,concrete completely carbonized,steel reinforcement bars rusted and steel hoop joint severely corroded. And its failure pattern was typical tension failure; the bearing capacity of steel hoop joints was still larger than that of the pole body. Research results can provide a scientific basis and reference for research,design and residual life evaluation of this kind of reinforced concrete electric poles.
