THE INFLUENCE OF AXIAL COMPRESSION RATIO ON THE SLAB REINFORCEMNT PARTICIPATION IN LONGITUDINAL BEAM OVERSTRENGTH
In order to investigate the influence of axial compression ratio on the paticipation extent of slab reinforcement in longitudinal beam overstrength,a series of RC frame structures with different axial compression ratios were simulated in ABAQUS. The actualization of Strong Column Weak Beam philosophy was analyzed in RC frame structures with different axial compression ratios and at different connections. The requirement of the appearance of plastic hinge at beam end was discussed. It indicates that axial compression ratio can greatly influence the participation extent of slab reinforcement and it is easier for the appearance of plastic hinges at beam end in RC frame structures with low axial compression ratio than that with high axial compression ratio. Moreover,it is easier for the appearance of plastic hinges at beam end at interior connections than that at exterior connections in the same structure. In order to actualize the target of No Collapsing in the Strong Earthquake more effectively,it is recommended that the actual capacity of beam end with the slab participation in consideration should be still smaller than the actual capacity of column end at the same connection.
