THE SPECTRUM OF STRENGTH REDUCTION FACTOR FOR SDOF SYSTEMS IMPOSED BY NEAR-FIELD GROUND MOTIONS

In this paper, considering the effect of displacement ductility and overstrength ratios, the spectrum of strength reduction factor for a serial of single degree of freedom systems (SDOF) is comprehensively studied, when they are undergoing Near-field records. Several recently impactive near-field ground motions are included, and the number of total records is 212,which are characterized into three soil types. Although, several currently models are taking the near-field effect into consideration, but none of them is completely perfect in using for near-field records (NFR). The forward-rupture direction; fling step and so on are the inherent characters in the NFR,which would cause obviously high mode contribution in strength demand and significant strength deterioration. So a specific modal is necessary to estimate the strength demand of a structure when it is imposed by the NFR. Focusing on the influence of displacement ductility ratio and overstrength ratio,a regression model is proposed here, which is based on the nonlinear results of the 212 NFR totally. The dispersion of error was also carried out so that the probability spectrum function of R is also presented.
