EXPERIMENTAL INVESTIGATIONS ON BOND BEHAVIORS BETWEEN FRP BARS AND CONCRETE UNDER CORROSIVE ENVIRONMENT
Experimental investigations on bond behaviours between FRP bars and concrete under the corrosive environments of wet-dry cycling of sodium chloride (NaCl) solution and sodium sulfate (NaSO4) solution, respectively, were carried out in this paper. Pull-out tests on 39 FRP bonded concrete specimens were conducted and the corresponding bond stress-slip curves of FRP bar to concrete interface were obtained. The results indicated that there were no obvious deteriorations on the bond properties between FRP and concrete corroded by NaCl solution compared with that in natural environment; however, the bond performances of specimens were heavily degraded due to the corrosion of NaSO4 solution. Different types of FRP bars lead to different bond properties, among which CFRP bars exhibited the preferable bond behaviours against the corrosive environments.
