STABILITY ANALYSIS OF PROGRESSIVE FAILURE IN SOIL SLOPE
To the stability of soil slope,the variability of shear strength parameters of soil was considered and the model of progressive failure was built based on traditional slices method by introducing the concept of progressive failure; and the stability of soil slope was researched by the reliability method. Soil mass above slip surface was divided into n slices,the safety margin of every slice was assumed to be normal distribution and the safety margin of two adjacent slices was bivariate normal distribution. The probability of progressive failure was calculated according to the probability of the slices failure and failure transition. Take a slope of Tong-Huang highway in Shanxi province as an example,its stability was analyzed by the progressive reliability analysis method. The result showed that the probability of every slices failure and failure transition were different from each other. Therefore,it displayed the situation of the failure and failure transition inside the soil mass. Compared with the conventional Bishop method,the progressive reliability analysis method can accurately calculate the failure probability of the slope. Visibly,the progressive reliability analysis method can well reflect the generation and extending of the partial failure and its effect on the whole stability of the soil slope.
