STRUCTURAL SPATIAL SWINGING VIBRATION CONTROL

This paper discusses the structural spatial swinging vibration and motion control using the innovative Tuned Rotary Inertia Damper (abbreviated as TRID) control system, which has been proposed for pendular vibration suppression based on structural passive control theory. Firstly, equation of motion for the suspensory structure subject to arbitrary motion excitation is established based on Lagrangian principle, and the theory of TRID control system is analyzed. Secondly, numerical simulation of TRID control for two types of suspensory structural motion, planar pendular vibration and spatial conical motion, are investigated. Then, optimal parameters and impact factors on control effectiveness are summarized. Lastly, the abnormal phenomena of TRID control for structural conical motion within the resonance zone is observed. The research results of this paper can be applied to the practical problem, meanwhile establish partial theoretical foundation, for anti-swinging of hook structure of large-scale heavy-lifting and pipeline-paving ships.
