SERVICE LIFE CONSIDERATION OF CONCRETE STRUCTURES IN A BROAD PERSPECTIVE

摘要：

A highly integrated philosophy and principle of the service life consideration of concrete structures are highlighted in this paper. Consistent definitions of relevant terms and their usage during the service life consideration of a concrete structure are provided. On the basis of the proposed framework with respect to the service life consideration,a holistic view is outlined. Barriers and challenges,which a structural engineer faces in the new century as far as the service life consideration of a concrete structure is concerned,are addressed. It is believed that the proposed philosophy and principle could lead to a more sensible and fruitfull research and development in the future.
