IDENTIFICATION OF NONLINEAR STRUCTURAL PARAMETERS WITH LIMITED INPUT AND OUTPUT MEASUREMENTS
In this paper,a technique is proposed for the identification of nonlinear structural parameters with limited input and output measurements. The identification algorithm is based on the sequential application of extended Kalman estimator for the nonlinear structural parameters and the recursive least square estimation for the unmeasured excitation. First, the identification of small size nonlinear structural parameters is studied. Then, the technique is extended to identify large size nonlinear structural parameters utilizing substructure approach. Interaction effect between adjacent substructures is accounted by considering the interaction forces at substructure interfaces as additional unknown inputs to the substructures. Two numerical examples which identify nonlinear hysteretic parameters of a 4-story and a 7-story hysteretic shear-frame building subject to unmeasured ground excitation respectively, demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed technique.
