STUDY ON TYPHOON WIND CHARACTERISTICS BASED ON SEASHORE MEASUREMENTS

Wind characteristics of the 0814 typhoon Hagupit are analyzed on the basis of 10 min wind speed samples. The field data such as wind speed and wind direction were measured simultaneously by two sonic,two propeller and four NRG symphonie anemometers on a 70m height tower located at the seashore of Wuchuan city,Guangdong. The measured wind data are analyzed to obtain the information on mean wind speed and direction,wind profile,turbulence intensity,gust factor,turbulence integral scale and wind spectra of wind speed fluctuations. Offshore wind profiles coincide with power law when mean wind speeds become high,and onshore wind speed increases with height from 10m to 50m height,and then keep constant to 70m height even a litter decrease. Turbulence intensity also remains almost constant when wind speed becomes high. The average values of gust factor are 1.32 and 1.33 respectively by sonic and propeller anemometer at 11m height. Turbulence integral scales are also almost unchanged with mean wind speed when wind speed bigger than 17.2m/s. Field measured wind speed spectra are not according with any empirical wind spectra well.
