FT-IR STUDY OF HYDRATION PRODUCTS OF SILICATE CEMENT UNDER THE ACTION OF PHOSPHOALUMINATES
The compressive and flexible strength of silicate cement mixed phosphoaluminate clinker of 10% and gypsum of 3.5%(calculated in SO3) were researched. The hydration products of phosphoaluminates,silicate cement and the composite cement were studied by means of Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR). The OH unsymmtrical stretching band (3 050-3 750 cm1) of their hydration products were resolved by using second derivative and curve fitting technique and compared. The results showed that the phosphoaluminates might not only accerlate the hydration rate of silicate cement,but also increase the compressive and flexible strength of all ages for silicate cement at different extent. The FT-IR analysis showed that there were many states for OH groups in the harden pastes of the above cements. The peaks for hydrates of phosphoaluminates were Ca—OH in hydrated calcium phosphoaluminate,P—H2O/P—OH in hydrated calcium phosphoaluminate containing crystal water and hydrated calcium phosphate and AI—OH in hydrated calcium aluminate. The OH groups mostly existed in the states of combining to Ca2+,P5+ and Al3+ ions. The peaks for hydrates of silicate cement and the composite cement were Ca—OH of calcium hydroxide,Si(p)—OH of hydrated calcium silicate,Al—OH/AFt crystal water of hydrated calcium aluminate,hydrogen bond water and coordination water. The OH groups mainly existed in the states of combining to Ca +,P5+ and Al3+ ions and fewly existed in hydrogen bond water and coordination water in the paste of the composite cement for all ages. The cement hydrates were bonded tightly and strongly because of the strong bond energy of ionic bonds,so that the mechanical strength of harden paste was very high. It was indicated that the OH groups combined by ionic bond played a positive role in strength of the composite cement paste.
