EFFECT OF CONNECTIONS FLEXIBILITY ON THE BEHAVIOR OF COMPOSITE FRAMES UNDER VERTICAL LOADS
Effect of connections flexibility on the behavior of composite frames under vertical loads was discussed in this paper. The moment-rotation characteristics, composite action of the slab and geometric nonlinear were considered. The stiffness matrix of rigid connected frame was modified through introducing an end- fixing factor. The results indicated that the moment- rotation characteristics of connections affect the forces and deformations of the composite frames evidently, while the load magnitude has no significant effect in the range of 0.143< r0<0.727. In addition, the effects of semirigid connection and composite action of slab on the behavior of steel frames must be properly considered in design.
