COMPARISON OF SEISMIC PERFORMANCE OF RC BEAM-COLUMN JOINTS WITH AND WITHOUT SEISMIC DETAILS
In many old reinforced concrete buildings and the frame structures of some low-moderate seismic zone, the joints without seismic details exist. Under seismic loading, those joints may suffer damage, and thereby contribute significantly to the seismic performance of the frame. So the seismic performance of these joints without seismic details is concerned by engineers. In this paper, seismic performance of three types of typical joints with and without seismic details was analyzed by software ABAQUS. The results of finite element analysis by ABAQUS indicated that the peak loads of the joints without seismic details were about 76~97 percent of those of the joints with seismic details ,and the ductility factors of the former were about 77~92 percent of the latter.
