EXPERIMENTAL RESEARCH AND NUMERICAL ANALYSIS OF RESTRAINED COLUMNS OF STEEL FRAMES IN FIRE
According to the practical statement of the column of framed structure in work,the experimental models of the bottom column which suffers different restraint resulting from the other parts of the framed steel structure are designed in consideration of the practical characteristics of the framed structure. As for the models,three of different restraints and conditions are considered for the test specimens of restrained steel columns,that is symmetric restraint,eccentric restraint and freedom condition at top of the column. The experiment of the restrained column in fire is carried out with burning stove,and the elevated temperatures on surface of the column and displacements at the upper end of the column are measured for two processes of temperature rise and cooling. On the other hand,the computational model of numerical analysis of the restrained column in fire is established with using the software MSC.marc,in which the restraint stiffness for the column is determined through analysis of the whole frame and nonlinearity of thermal parameters of steel material and geometrical nonlinearity of the structural response in fire are taken into consideration. The results show that the numerical results obtained here is identical to the experiments well. It is concluded that the computational method of restraint stiffness is reliable,which may be used to determine the boundary restraint parameters of the column of framed structures with multiple stories.
