Genomic investigation of invasion associated genes expression in Salmonella enterica serovar Typhi at enteric environmental stresses

Salmonella enterica serovar Typhi (S. Typhi) is a gram-negative human enteroinvasive pathogen and an important model prokaryote also. Intestinal invasion by 5. Typhi is associated with many pathogen-specific factors, including Type Ⅲ secretion systems, secretion of invasion related proteins, flagella and motility, and reducing of Vi polysaccharide. During the infection procedure, Salmonella should be suffer from many kinds of severe environmental stress, such as gastric acid stress, hyperosmotic stress, bile acids stress and oxidative stress. Bacteria must regulate numerous genes expression though the complex regulatory network to adapt different stresses. DNA microarray technique has been widely used in analysis of bacterial expression profiles, which is beneficial to clarify the network of gene expression regulation. By a genomic oligo DNA microarray, we previously found the gene expression kinetics of 5. Typhi during Hyperosmotic Stress in vitro.
