An Analysis on Development Dominance Ratio of Agricultural Resources in Gansu Province Based on GIS

The efficient utilization of agricultural resources is the key issue of food security. The sequencing of dominance ratio of agricultural resources provides reference for its effective development. This paper brings forth the concept and a model of development dominance ratio (DDR) of agricultural resources on the base of the development potential and utilization efficiency of agricultural resources. Also, this paper, taking Gansu province as an example, analyses the DDR sequence of agricultural resources in Gansu province. It indicates that this model exactly simulates the current situation and regional differences of the DDR of agricultural resources in Gansu. As a comprehensive index of DDR of agricultural resources, DDR of arable land resources ranks in level 4-5 at rain-fed agricultural areas like Longnan, Longdong & Longzhong and lightabundant regions like Gannanzhou. Since its arable land production capacity gets well-developed, the DDR of agricultural resources of Hexi oasis irrigated agricultural area is about level 1-2. However, the DDR of agricultural resources at the two areas, namely MinQin and Jinchang, is in the middle, level 3.
