The sweetpotato: Future role

摘要：

The increase of world population combined with the scarcity of resources leads us to prepare for the future uncertainty. Climatic changes add another burden to humans. Expanding arable land and improving crop production efficiency are two obvious solutions for the problem. The sweetpotato has been used for food and feed since long ago,and can be utilized further for industrial raw material including starch, biofuel, plastics, and Pharmaceuticals. With proper input to the areas of research and development, the sweetpotato could do an important role in the near future in providing sustainable resources for food,feed and fuel.
