Analysis of sweetpotato parents in China
Two hundred and fifty eight sweetpotato cultivars were collected from 25 sweetpotato research institutes. Starch varieties were taken 19.4％ of all as edible varieties 39.1％ ,starch and edible varieties 33.7％ ,and vegetable and feeding cultivars 7.8％. Among 354 parents,33 cultivars were released from Xushu18 and 10 from Okinawa100 or Nancy hall directly,and 77 from Okinawa100 or Nancy hall indirectly. Lizixiang,Nanfeng,Huabei48,Mianfen1 ,Yanshu5,Ningshu1 ,Yushu7 and Yushu10 from Nancy hall and Okinawa100 were used as parents frequently. Nancy hall,Okinawa100 and Xushu18 were less used as parents in southern of China,but advanced clones from them were used frequently. Among 254 cultivars,there are 120 cultivars related to OkinawalOO and Nancy hall which accounted 47％ in conclusion.
