The effect of plant growth regulators on the allocation of assimilate in thickening stage of different sweetpotato genotypes (Ipomoea batatas L.)
Under field condition, three sweetpotato genotypes cv. Jishu18,Xushu18 and ShangshuOHO were used to study the effect of plant growth regulators (PGRs) on yield, photosynthesis and phytohor-mone content by foliar spraying at the beginning of thickening stage. Results showed that application of 4.8 g ? 666.7 m~-2 of mixture of Cycocel and DA-6(MCD) at 35 d after transplanting could increase the storage root yield of Jishu 18,Xushu 18 and ShangshuOHO significantly by 30.2% ,23.4% and 36.8% ,respectively. Uniconazole (S3307) with the dosage of 1.25 g-666.7 m2 also enhanced the yield of the 3 genotypes above by 26.2% , 12.4% and 5.3% compared with the control. PGRs enhanced the photosynthesis, but there was no significant difference. The PGRs increased the concentration of endogenous IAA,ZR and ABA,but showed little,if any, effect on that of GA-3. It was concluded that PGRs changed the trend of endogenous phytohormone concentration to a certain extent during the thickening stage, thus finnally influenced the enlargement of storage roots and the yield formation.
