Effect of phosphorus on quality and RVA profile characters in sweetpotato
Four sweetpotato varieties with different starch content as trial materials were selected to study the effects of phosphorus on quality and RVA profile characters of sweetpotato in a long-term located fertilizer experiment base established in 1980 in Xuzhou (CHUNK and NPK). The results showed that, the phosphorus (P) treatments clearly increased the production of four sweetpotato varieties and was also beneficial to the dry matter accumulation and the protein synthesis. Comparing to the control, the differences of starch content were significant at level of 5% or 1%. The treatments moderately lowered sugar contents in sweetpotato roots. The RVA profile characters of sweetpotato starch showed a typical A or C-type,and the differences in RVA profile parameters were significant with different P treatments.
