The change of POD,SOD and CAT activity associated with black rot infection in resistant and susceptible sweet potato
In order to reveal the physiological and biochemical mechanism of black rot resistance, the activity of POD,SOD and CAT in resistant and susceptible sweetpotato cultivars treated with the black rot pathogen was tested. The results showed that inoculation of black rot significantly enhanced the activity of SOD and POD in a black rot resistant cultivar,NanJing-92,and a susceptible cultivar, Yan252. Both SOD and POD activities in NanJing-92 treated with black rot were significantly higher than those in treated Yan-252. The activities of SOD and POD peaked on the 4~th day post inoculation,at 536U/min ? mg and 856U/gFw in Nan Jing-92,and 348U/min ? mg and 568U/gFw in Yan-252,respectively. The CAT activity was reduced after inoculation to 73.17% in NanJing-92 and 63.63% in Yan-252. Our results suggest that the changes of POD, SOD and CAT activity induced by inoculation of black rot may be connected to the black rot resistance of sweetpotato.
