Influence of soluble silicon on the resistance to black rot of sweetpotato seedlings
In this study,seedlings of sweetpotato variety Triumph 100 were inoculated with Ceratocystis fimbriata,the casual pathogen of black rot in sweetpotato,at the fifth day after silicon treatment,and disease indexes were determined per 24 hours. The results showed that silicon treatment can prolong the incubation period of sweetpotato black rot and significantly decreased the incidence and disease index. Therefore,silicon treatment can reduce the damage of black rot to sweetpotato,and improve the disease resistance of sweetpotato varieties.
