Multivariate regression analysis on ethanol yield and quality traits of fresh sweetpotato

Eleven typical svveetpotato varieties were selected to research the relationship between the ethanol yield and the quality traits such as dry matter,starch,protein,soluble sugar and reduced sugar by correlation and regression analysis methods. The results showed that the ethanol yields were significantly different among sweetpotato varieties, the sweetpotato with the highest ethanol yield was Xushu 22 and the highest fermentation efficiency was Suyu 303. Ethanol yield showed significantly positive correlation with dry matter (r=0.842,P<0.01),starch content (r=0.671,P<0.05) and total proteins (r=0.714,P<0. 05),but not with soluble sugar and reduced sugar. Ethanol yield had good linear relationship with starch,protein and reduced sugar of sweetpotato,and the regression equation between ethanol yield and sweetpotato quality traits was established (r=0.870,P<0.05).
