Rapid and energy-saving ethanol production from sweet potato
Sweetpotato (Ipomoea batatas Lam.),a low price and high starch content energy crop,is a potential feedstock for bioethanol production in China. To enhance the carbon source utilization and reduce the production cost, the following parameters were investigated fermentation modes, cooking temperature, initial sugar concentration and glucoamylase dosage. The results showed that the SSF (simultaneous saccharification and fermentation) was a better fermentation model than SHF (separate hydrolysis and fermentation) and partial-SSF. The optimum values for SSF were:cooking temperature at 85℃, initial total sugar concentration of 210 g/kg and glucoamylase dosage at 750 AGU/kg starch. Ethanol concentration of 97.44 g/kg was obtained after 24 h,which corresponded to the average ethanol productivity reach 4.06 g/kg/h.
