Strategy of feeding swine with sweetpotato
Three experiments were conducted to study the sweetpotato (SP) feeding strategy in swine. 1) Silage making experiment:four types of SP silage were made with rapeseed meal and corn meal according to a certain proportion. The results showed that silage effect was good. 2) Pig feeding experiment: Use the SP tuber +rapeseeds meal silage to study the feeding effect during piglets stage and finishing stage. 3) Pig feeding On-farm trials:Four farms were selected to study the silage feeding experiment. The treatment groups were lower feeding cost than control groups. 4) SP feeding strategy conclusion: It is recommend that all farmers produce SP tuber and SP vine silage with rapeseeds meal and corn meal to store the tuber and vines to feed the swine. In piglet diets,SP vines silage is not recommended, and the SP tuber silage diet dosage should not exceed 15％ (dry matter basis). In the diet of growing-finishing pigs,sweetpotato silage diets supplemented with 20％, sweetpotato vine silage diets supplemented with 10％ (dry matter basis).
