The Idiocrasy of Student Entrepreneurship: Evidence from Southwestern University of Finance and Economics in China
The existing literature about entrepreneurship focuses on scientist entrepreneurship and is particularly based on US-European Models. This paper takes three student entrepreneurship teams in Southwestern University of Finance and Economics, a leading non - engineering university in China, as case studies to analyze the idiocrasy of student entrepreneurship. We find that students often conduct entrepreneurship activities in group in the 3rd school year. Their activities do not center on commercializing research findings from laboratory but add value to existing products or service. The added value is related to their major knowledge. Family background and university entrepreneurship education program are two key factors which influence student entrepreneurship intention.
